Jingle and Hagen's
2nd family cont.
July 28th: The pictures here show the pups on this past Tuesday, the
day they turned four weeks old.  They're all doing very well, and Jingle
is now showing signs of getting quite tired of playing mama.  She
wants to spend more and more time away from the litter, and we
expect her to begin the weaning process any day now.  Mulligan and
Divot, the two males, who have been lagging behind Fairway and
Birdie, the two females, are beginning to catch up now.  I asked Jan,
friend and President of the New Guinea Singing Dog Conservation
Society, about my concerns that the females seemed so much more
developed than the males, and she said that by the time they're six
weeks old, the males will likely catch up and pass the females.  Hagen
and Jingle's first litter of two years ago were all boys.  Banjo, who
many of you have met, and who comes to work with us every day, is
from that first litter.  That litter being all males, where all four
developed closely to the same rate, gave us no experience with the
difference between females and males.
August 11th:  A lot of time has passed since I last posted pictures of
the puppies.  A lot has happened, too, but I just didn't have a camera
with me!  Anyway, the puppies made their first visit to Douglas Oaks
Animal Hospital on Wednesday the 8th, where they received their first
checkup and the first in the puppy series of vaccinations.  This litter
was all tail wags, where Banjo's litter two years ago, roughly, weren't
quite as "joyful" at their first visit.

The below pictures were taken yesterday in our front yard.  These
guys are a real hoot!  They had a blast playing in the grass.
